Samuel Wellington Asamoah Kofi a/k/a GOTAFLIKA was born in Ghana on April 17, 1986 and was destined to become something great. Known to his friends as Wellington. He explains his stage name as Go- To- Africa, which came to an existence after a friend of his asked him come up with a be‚tter stage name than Wellington, which did not have “quite a ring” to it. From childhood, he was influenced by all genres of music, and was loved by people around him as an entertainer in all aspects, so he knew he was destined for greatness as an artist. In 2003, he moved to the United States to live with his mother in Virginia. He a‚ttended Gar-Field High School and Potomac High School. In 2008, he joined the United States Navy and became an Aviation Structure mechanic, and thereafer was deployed three times. In addition to his dedicated service to the U.S Navy, GOTAFLIKA was also dedicated to his passion for spitting lyrics over a dope beat. In 2015, he participated in an Independent Artist Competition Series that lasted for two months. It was his first artist showcase where he would perform and be judged. GOTAFLIKA surprised the judges with his explosive, gri‚tty, and unique style and got the a‚ttention of TWT Entertainment’s Ted Smith who was amongst the panel. Six months after the series, Ted approached GOTAFLIKA about taking his music to next level. GOTAFLIKA was then introduced to Def Jam’s Wise McGriff to be his consultant.
GOTAFLIKA lives in Norfolk, VA and is currently serving in the U.S. Navy. GOTAFLIKA is working hard each day to fulfill his childhood dream of becoming one of the world most renounced artists. Ultimately he wants to go on to be recognized artistically along with such musical greats as Sean Paul, Shaggy, Alpha Blonde, Tupac, Nas, Notorious B.I.G., and or the late Lucky Dube.
